Which is rarer: a lunar eclipse or a late train in Japan?

There’s a famous saying that the trains are never late in Japan. I better hold on to these pictures then:

These were taken at Kyobashi Station last Friday, Dec. 9. My Japanese isn’t good enough to be able to read the news, and it’s not even good enough to understand the news being explained to me by a patient host mom. But this 10/15-minute delay was so rare and significant that it landed a spot on the TV news and on the next day’s broadsheet. Unfortunately, I still don’t know what exactly caused it.
